Inside Sales Representative

 

Intertek is searching for an Inside Sales Representative to join our Business Assurance team in our Mississauga, Ontario office.  This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Sales!

 

The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for:

 

Position Overview
The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for preparing accurate and compliant quotations for accredited certification and assurance services. The role supports the sales team by analyzing client requirements, determining certification scope, calculating audit duration, and preparing proposals in accordance with accreditation rules and internal procedures.
This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with technical and operational teams to ensure quotations meet both commercial and accreditation requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review client applications, RFQs, and scope information to determine certification requirements.

  • Prepare detailed quotations for management system certification services such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.

  • Calculate audit duration and certification cycle requirements in accordance with applicable accreditation rules and guidance from organizations such as the International Accreditation Forum.

  • Collaborate with sales managers, technical reviewers, and operations teams to ensure quotes are technically accurate and commercially viable.

  • Maintain accurate quote records and client data in CRM systems such as Salesforce.

  • Ensure all quotations comply with internal procedures and accreditation requirements.

  • Support the sales team with technical clarification, proposal preparation, and client follow-up when required.

  • Identify missing or unclear scope information and communicate with clients or sales representatives to obtain necessary details.

 

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in inside sales, sales operations, or quotation preparation, preferably in certification, compliance, or professional services.

  • Working knowledge of management system standards such as ISO 9001 or ISO 14001 is an asset.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Excel, Word.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Quotes often require interpreting incomplete or complex data. Important abilities: Analyze client organizational structures. Interpret scope statements and NACE/NAICS codes. Identify risk factors affecting audit duration. Evaluate multi-site vs single-site certification structures. Detect scope gaps or missing information.

  • Coordination & Project Management

  • Inside sales often acts as a hub between several internal stakeholders.

  • Frequent coordination with: Technical reviewers, Scheme managers, Auditors, scheduling, etc.

  • Key skills: Managing multiple quote requests simultaneously, Tracking quote approval workflows, Ensuring accreditation compliance before issuing quotes

  • Communication Skills. Clear communication is critical because quotes often require technical clarification.

  • Attention to Detail & Compliance Mindset

  • Accredited certification services are highly regulated. Important qualities: Strong documentation discipline. Ability to follow internal procedures. Understanding of accreditation risks. Ensuring proposals match approved certification scopes.

  • Digital & Data Skills. Modern quoting roles require strong systems use. Common tools: CRM systems, Quoting software, Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables), Word, Document management systems.

  • Technical Knowledge of Certification & Standards. Essential for understanding what the client actually needs. 

  • Key knowledge areas:

  • Understanding of management system standards such as:

  • ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, Knowledge of certification cycles (Stage 1, Stage 2, surveillance, recertification), Understanding audit duration calculation rules.

  • Industry & Sector Awareness. Understanding client industries improves quote accuracy. Helpful sector familiarity with:

  • Manufacturing

  • Forestry & pulp/paper

Educational Background

  • Business Administration

Salary & Benefits Information

The annual salary range for this position is $50,000 per year. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. In addition to competitive compensation packages, Intertek employees are eligible for a variety of benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, RRSP with company match, tuition reimbursement and more.
