Payroll Assistant - ADP Experience - Greater Chicago area - Hybrid position

Intertek is searching for a Payroll Assistant to join our HR Department team based from our Arlington Heights, IL  office.  This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the HR Department!

The Payroll Assistant is responsible for assisting with the processing of payroll for multiple legal entities using ADP Vantage and Fusion HCM.

Salary & Benefits Information

The salary range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00 per hour. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What you'll do:

  • Assist with processing new hires, employee data changes, and terminations in the HRIS and payroll systems
  • Assist with entering payable items and corrections into biweekly payroll batches
  • Process payroll, import timekeeping data, and ensure payroll is completed within established timeframes
  • Review payroll reports and provide feedback to the Senior Employee Services Lead regarding corrections or changes before payroll is processed
  • Validate the accuracy of data in both HRIS and payroll systems
  • Assist with preparing reports required for audits
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly and accurately
  • Assist with acquisitions and payroll transitions
  • Set up new state and local tax authorities as needed
  • Complete various wage-related requests
  • Assist with workers' compensation reporting as needed
  • Process check adjustments, voids, manual check updates, reissues, overpayments, and other irregular payroll transactions
  • Serve as a backup to other team members as needed
  • Comply with all Intertek policies and procedures
  • Complete other projects and special assignments as requested
  • Provide general administrative support to the department as needed

 

What it takes to be successful in this role:·    

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2–4 years of relevant payroll experience in a multi-state environment
  • At least 1 year of experience working with ADP
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, shifting deadlines, and competing demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service skills with a proactive approach to resolving issues and developing solutions to prevent employee data problems
  • Excellent attention to detail, prioritization, organization, and time-management skills
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and interact with employees, managers, and other stakeholders
  • Proficiency in the technical and administrative skills required to perform the essential job duties
  • Customer-focused and committed to delivering high-quality work

  • Knowledge of and adherence to workplace safety practices and policies
  • Ability to travel as business needs require
