Intertek's Building Science Solutions (BSS) group is primarily focused on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects.
What are we looking for?
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for quality assurance observations, leading diagnostic and forensic testing, and assisting with the strategic growth and development of our regional field-testing capabilities across multiple operating units.
In addition, the senior project manager will work closely with the department manager on various administrative and developmental duties such as project management, staffing, and mentoring. The successful candidate will be a reliable self-starter who will want and contribute to the overall effective progress of projects and development of staff. This position is travel-intensive, and you must be willing and able to travel to project sites as needs arise.
Shift/Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday core business hours (may vary slightly)
What you'll do:
- Assist Department Manager or Regional Manager with strategic initiatives within the business Unit including improvement of reporting standards, process changes, calibration and development of new testing capabilities.
- Perform and lead field performance testing and water leakage testing of roofing and waterproofing systems, windows, curtain walls, and other building elements.
- Assist with the development and training of new employees.
- Perform diagnostic and forensic investigations, documentation of existing conditions including wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs, skylights, plaza waterproofing and below grade elements.
- Provide support as the primary client contact for projects and develop client relationships.
- Develop the scope of services and prepare proposals.
- Contribute positively to team morale and our servant leadership model.
- Support the innovation of our field testing, instrumentation and assessment capabilities.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- 20+ years of relevant industry experience
- Technical knowledge and understanding of building construction and building enclosure systems
- Technical knowledge of commercial roofing systems
- Experience in managing a range of small to large projects
- Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and specifications
- Ability to write concise site observation and investigation reports with photos
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be a self-starter
- Must be detail-oriented
- Follow and enforce safety requirements and company policies
- Ability to perform work from scaffolding, ladders, boom-lifts, roof levels, etc.
- Ability to climb stairs, bend, crawl, reach overhead, push, pull or carry up to 50 lbs
- Technically competent and able to effectively communicate with clients, designers, contractors, and coworkers, both in writing and orally
- Physical ability to sit, stand, crouch, bend, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, push, pull, lift at least 50 pounds etc. as required to perform job duties
- Ability to travel nationwide, depending on workload and project locations
- A valid driver's license and reliable driving record
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
- Degree in a technical field desired, or equivalent related experience, preferred
