PURPOSE OF POSITION: 

  • Responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance needs of Iowa Select Farms' warehouse facilities.  Oversee the warehouse teams that are responsible for ensuring warehouse shelves are properly stocked and supplies being received, inventoried and distributed properly to maintain accurate inventory records and order fulfilment.
  • Align and create a strong partnership with the Procurement team for mutual efficiencies.
  • Create and maintain a positive working environment for warehouse associates.
  • Create a culture of customer first, which would involve our maintenance team, production team, farms, pigs, and other support departments.
  • Align expectations across the warehouse teams and ensure our drivers are well prepared and organized for all deliveries
  • Maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the team
  • Minimize inventory shrink

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This is not an office role, a good portion of your time will be involved with normal warehouse role activities and functions.
  • Accountable for the maintenance and execution of Biosecurity Protocols for the warehouse location.
  • Responsible for ensuring the teams completion, accuracy and entry of the inventory counts of physical inventory.
  • Assist with the reconciliation of physical inventory variances.
  • Maintain a clean warehouse environment by ensuring the completion of sweeping, dusting, floor cleaning and conducting general cleaning and disinfecting activities.
  • Ensure inventory labels and bin locations are accurate at all warehouses for efficient order picking.
  • Prioritize pending orders into the queue to be picked/staged for pick or delivery.
  • Provide customer service support to multiple teams responsible for daily operations.
  • Receive and react to warehouse facility alarm calls.
  • Manage the development and implementation of Warehouse SOPs.
  • Receive, store, and pick/stage spare and replacement parts, equipment, medications, and expendable items to be used in general production operations.
  • Receive parts and production supplies from various suppliers, verify shipment amounts, condition of product, and send verified packing lists to appropriate department for ROG. 
  • Process inbound shipments and re-stock shelves timely for efficient order picking.
  • Operate various equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks.  
  • Process outgoing shipment of items sent out of the warehouse.
  • Process and handle return of items back to warehouse in accordance with Biosecurity protocols.
  • Maintain sidewalks and entryways to main office complex including snow removal and salting as necessary.
  • Demeanor should always be positive and professional.
  • Daily focus should be on the welfare of animals, not personal issues.
  • Attendance is critical. Be at work on scheduled days and be ready to work by the start time given.
  • Be friendly, positive, helpful, team-oriented and respectful to co-workers and management team.
  • Flexibility in hours during staffing challenges is required.
  • Oversee the completion and execution of onboarding new warehouse associates as needed
  • Find opportunities for process improvement, excess inventory, and product quality improvement

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • This position directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is performed indoors.
  • This job operates both in an office that is climate controlled and includes hazards typical to that environment, but also in a warehouse climate that is not controlled for air conditioning. 
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations.  
  • The environment you will be working in may have nuisance levels of gases and dust, particularly in the winter months

 

PHYSICALITY REQUIREMENTS

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.          
  • The employee must have the ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds along with climbing up ladders and over gates.
  • The employee must be able to continuously repeat necessary movements such as bending, lifting and different hand movements as needed to complete tasks.

 

 

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • This is a full-time position that will typically require at least 40 hours a week. 
  • 7am- 4pm Monday-Friday are the operational hours of this team, it may vary slightly based off the needs of the business.
  • Additional availability is required during staffing challenges, as a supervisor. 
  • Occasional evening hours and weekend work may be required as the job duties demand for a Manager/Supervisor. 

 

TRAVEL.

  • Primary time will be spent in Iowa Falls (90%)
  • Travel is required to the warehouses within our business; this includes Iowa Falls, Osceola, Rockwell City, and Osage (10%)

 

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and OTHER QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bilingual requirements: Not required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
