Description

Job Summary:
Under indirect supervision, provides computer, clerical, customer service and food tray tasks to the Food and Nutrition Services areas. The Nutrition Ambassador contacts patients, obtains menu selections and provides hospitality support for meal service. Delivers meals to patients within the San Diego Service Area and Food/Nutrition standards and scripting. Relates information to the Registered Dietitians as issues arise.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws. Interacts with patients to provide excellent customer service regarding patient meal service.

  • Maintains active communication with the kitchen staff for menu selections, special needs, special requests, food quality, tray accuracy, patient concerns and compliments.

  • Contacts patients in-person or by phone to determine their menu item preference.

  • Recommends alternate food item selections using computer system.

  • Performs general record keeping and general office duties as needed.

  • Transports and delivers patient food carts to designated floors.

  • Delivers patient food trays, checks on food satisfaction and removes soiled trays from patient rooms, including most isolation patients.

  • Follows established scripting for all patient interactions.

  • Interacts with nursing regarding patient meal services and assists nurses in obtaining patient food.

  • Informs clinical staff of patients that may need further intervention, per policy.

  • Ensures that food trays being served are accurate, correct temperature, aesthetically pleasing and labeled properly.

  • Performs patient identification per policy.

  • Provides telephone reception for Food and Nutrition Services areas by screening and referring incoming calls to appropriate staff.

  • Takes and relays messages and gives out general procedural information.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.


    • Checks trays on trayline and loads trays onto carts.

    Basic Qualifications:
    Experience

    • Essential Duties:



    • Ability to deal effectively with the public.

    • Ability to give instructions accurately and clearly.

    • Ability to use computer (desktop/laptop/tablet) and cell phones.


    Education

    • High School Diploma/GED


    License, Certification, Registration

    • N/A


    Additional Requirements:
    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in assembling and serving special diet foods.


    Notes:



    • May be required to work different locations/hours/shifts based on operational needs. Variable Hours

    • Scheduled work hours per week will be 20-32.
