Kamehameha Schools' Enterprise Technology team is currently looking for a Platform Engineer.
Our ideal candidate will be a mid to senior level engineer with 5+ years of prior experience in enterprise shared services, application design/development/architecture, integration, or Business Intelligence services (e.g. analytics, enterprise reporting, BI solutions). Platform knowledge to include, Informatica integration platform, MS Azure, Salesforce, Business Intelligence platforms.
This is hybrid role based out of our Kawaiaha'o Plaza location.
Unfortunately we are not able to offer relocation assistance or visa sponsorship.
Job Summary
Designs and implements scalable, reliable applications and solutions across Kamehameha Schools (KS) enterprise-wide platforms. Builds solutions that meet functional, integration, and development needs, supporting end-to-end application development and user experiences. Monitors and optimizes application performance, troubleshoots issues, and integrates new technologies and innovations. Designs CI/CD pipelines within a DevSecOps environment enabling efficient collaboration across technical teams. Identifies and delivers effective solutions for reusable applications and integration challenges, staying current with industry trends to keep KS competitive and innovative.
Essential Responsibilities
Software Engineering, Implementation and Support
Assists in the strategic design, implementation, and maintenance of Integration/Business Intelligence systems, integrating with databases, data warehouses, and data lakes.
Resolves technical issues related to platform engineering solutions, including integration, business intelligence applications, and data workflow applications.
Design and engineer comprehensive and optimal technical solutions of new and existing platforms based on business requirements as defined by technology standards.
Define and document platform system architecture, components, and integrations to ensure a clear understanding across teams.
Service customers in developing and modifying configurations, assisting with requirements discovery, and ensuring adherence to procedures and security protocols.
Platform Management and Optimization
Optimize cloud infrastructure to support the platform's capabilities and meet scalability and performance goals.
Manage and monitor technologies for optimization and forecasting issues, using insights to contribute to the technology solution architecture of new and existing platforms.
Manages and monitors the execution of ET platform engineering strategies, tactical plans, and initiatives.
Enforce API development and management standards, supporting code refactoring to improve pipeline efficiency and overall system performance.
Implement security measures to protect platform resources, applications, and data, ensuring compliance with security standards and industry best practices.
Provides expert advice on emerging technology trends and offers technical leadership in platform engineering, integration, and intelligence systems, guiding ET Application staff in related processes.
Cloud Technology Solutions
Provide expert guidance on cloud technology architectures to tailor strategies and validate frameworks.
Design technology solutions to each customer's needs, navigating complex, feature-rich, tiered operating environments of cloud-hosted environments to meet business needs efficiently and cost-effectively.
Application & System Architecture Collaboration
Collaborate with ET domain experts and engineers to configure and customize applications, enhancing user experience and supporting organizational processes.
Partner with business stakeholders to design next-generation technology solutions, while providing ongoing architectural and engineering system support to existing business capabilities on legacy solutions.
Collaborate with DevSecOps stakeholders to develop scalable, maintainable, and highly available applications and enterprise architectures that meet business objectives and service-level agreements.
Develop continuous integration CI/CD pipelines in a DevSecOps environment, enabling cross-functional teams to collaborate efficiently on building, testing, and rapidly releasing applications and new features.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the requirements listed.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a closely related field.
Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in enterprise shared services, application development, integration, or Business Intelligence services (e.g. analytics, enterprise reporting, BI solutions).
In-depth knowledge of database concepts, including database design, relational database queries and optimization, transactions, and object-relational mapping.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with superior technical aptitude and the ability to convey complex concepts clearly.
Strong technical expertise in integration, intelligence applications, platforms, and systems, as well as in application design, development, management, and support.
Ability to develop and work with different constituencies in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Proven customer service skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Demonstrated ingenuity in troubleshooting, delivering solutions, and conducting innovative research
Strong project management skills, including leadership, planning, organization, and prioritization, to manage multiple large projects effectively
Excellent analytical skills to evaluate, interpret, draw inferences, and make recommendations on systems.
Experience leading project teams, overseeing progress, mentoring junior staff, and facilitating cross-functional teams (technical and non-technical).
Proven ability to adapt to shifting priorities, technologies, techniques and timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in development, visualization, and application platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Power BI) and experience with integration (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Informatica) and data platforms (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Azure).
Advanced knowledge of SQL, database schema design, and data technologies (e.g., Parquet, Databricks).
Proficient in CI/CD concepts, automation tools (e.g., Bitbucket Pipelines, AWS CodePipeline), and best practices for application build, test, and deployment processes.
Familiar with cloud computing models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and using cloud services to scale systems and enable digital transformation.
Experience with NoSQL, object-oriented, and hierarchical databases.
In-depth knowledge of multiple coding and scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Java, C++, PowerShell, Ruby) and the ability to write, interpret, and maintain code.
Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and oversee technical projects effectively.
Physical Requirements
Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
