Kamehameha Schools is currently looking for a Manager of Scholarship & Donor Relations to manage all scholarship initiatives, implementation and awarding from start to finish.   (Including the application, assistance with selection, data collection, and reporting.)

Our ideal candidate will have:

5+ years of full cycle experience with scholarships

Donor relations experience

Experience with scholarship events

Solid team management experience

This is an on-site position out of our Kawaiaha'o Plaza location.

Our targeted salary range is $99 - 110k.

Job Summary

Provides guidance and leadership on donor relations stewardship and scholarship and award program for the Pauahi Foundation.  Manages all scholarship initiatives, implementation and awarding from start to finish including the application, assistance with selection, data collection, and reporting.  Additionally, the Manager of Scholarships works closely with Finance and FAS to assist with awarding and disbursement of scholarship funds, promoting achievement of student outcomes. Collaborates with FAS to develop timelines, processes, and procedures.  Manages a cohesive donor engagement experience for the Foundation. Develops and executes a donor relations communications plan that aligns with the larger Pauahi Foundation Advancement goals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Creates cultivation stewardship plan for scholarship donors and acts as their primary relationship manager.
  • Prepares and manages scholarship budgets for approval by Director of Philanthropy.
  • Ensures adherence with donor wishes and legal regulations in the management of the scholarship application and selection process.
  • Collaborates with FAC and Finance to develop, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage all aspects of the scholarship program process from application to award, including defining eligibility, application intake and review, providing support for scholarship recipients, and disbursing funds.
  • Oversee the strategic planning and execution of a Donor Relations program and stewardship of donors, alumni, donor prospects in efforts of cultivation, recognition, stewardship and engagement.
  • Manages Philanthropy Specialists to execute a comprehensive plan that is integrated with the KS Finance and Scholarship departments to deliver timely and accurate information regarding donor's scholarship endowments and their collective impact.
  • Analyze and provide direction on giving targets and donor retention goals and determine best strategies based on industry-wide best practice.
  • Create and oversee the execution of a customer service framework to enhance our constituent experience.
  • Collaborate with the internal teams to ensure appropriate messaging and communication to all donors.
  • Provide oversight and direction to staff in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Lead employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement, and goal accomplishment.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications - A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the requirements listed.

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of education and/or with educational/academic scholarship agencies, or equivalent experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills; including writing, proof reading, and speaking.      
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and assignments.
  • Attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills required.
  • A high level of cultural competency and the ability to work with a diverse group of students, colleagues and community members.
  • Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).      
  • Highly professional interpersonal skills in person, and via phone and email.
  • Ability to work independently and to meet deadlines with little/no supervision.
  • Superb customer service ethic with high expectations for quality.
  • Ability to manage and supervise volunteers.
  • Effectively use data to solve problems, make decisions, and formulate projections.
  • Must be polished and tactful in dealing with donors, students, parents, alumni, staff, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as required to meet goals and objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Kamehameha Schools and Pauahi Foundation and its mission.
  • Supervisory/management experience.
  • Experience working in a Foundation or other educational non-profit organization.
  • Experience in Raiser's Edge software.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
  • Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.

Working Conditions (including Environmental Conditions)

  • This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
  • Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
  • Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
