Kamehameha Schools is searching for Enrichment Assistants to support our Ho'omāka'ika'i Summer Program! This program hosts 5 week-long overnight sessions for rising 6th graders to support connecting with and exploring Hawaiian culture. We are seeking a specialized Educational Assistant to guide participants in Papa Mele (song and dance) throughout the program. This role involves using musical skills, such as playing an instrument, singing, and demonstrating hula motions to instruct Hoʻomākaʻikaʻi mele and ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi to students. Collaboration with program staff is essential to coordinate lesson plans that deepen students' cultural immersion in ʻike kupuna. Additionally, this educational assistant will guide students in preparing a final performance that combines vocal elements with hula movements, showcasing their learning and progress.
Hire Dates: March 2 (Monday) - July 17 (Friday)
- Weekly Training: March 2 - June 6
- Program Dates: June 7 - July 10
- Closeout: July 13 - July 17

Job Summary
Provides assistance to the staff in implementing the Program's goals and objectives. Provides instructional support and assistance to program instructors during lessons, activities, and rehearsals. Supervises and assists students in reviewing lessons and preparing for closing performance.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assists the program instructors in the instruction of the program lessons by aiding and supervising program participants during program lessons, activities, and rehearsals. May instruct students to provide additional instructional time or reinforcement/review of lessons, etc.
- Assists program instructors to administer evaluation tools to measure program impact. Assists students in reviewing program lessons and preparing for closing performance.
- May provide supervision to student aides in the absence of program instructors. Provides feedback to program coordinator on the evaluation of student aides.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
- Associates Degree in Education, Counseling, or a directly related field.
- Minimum one (1) year experience in a directly related area.
Ability to work effectively with students and staff.
Ability to use good human relations and communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge in Program-specific area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to follow instructions and perform requested tasks.
- Previous experience working with elementary age students.
- Previous working experience in the Performing Arts Academy desirable.
- Certified in first aid and water safety desirable.
- Possess a valid Drivers License.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently sit, perform desk based computer tasks and grasp light/fine manipulation.
- Occasionally stand/walk, write by hand, and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach/work about shoulder, grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
- Work is conducted in an office environment but the purpose of the work may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. but evening and weekend hours may be required to meet goals and objectives.
