The Capital Construction Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating multiple construction projects in hospitals and on- and off-campus outpatient environments. Coordinates projects for facility improvements through all phases including programming, planning, design, bidding, pre-construction, occupancy, and closeout. Develops, interprets, communicates and executes projects through plans and directives. Works collaboratively with USC Capital Construction and Design (CCD) and USC Real Estate and Asset Management (REAM), to ensure smooth operations of services throughout construction projects. Provides direction and coordination to contractors and sub-contractors to enable project completion within the Health System's schedule, operations, policies, and protocols. Monitors expenditures and facilitates the procurement processes. Ensures that the design, processes, and specifications align with regulatory compliance and the facilities objectives and goals. Utilizes construction project management software to track projects and communicate to hospital administration. Prepares and delivers presentations to Department Managers, Directors, and Administrators.

Essential Duties:

  • Serves as project manager responsible for managing and coordinating multiple and/or complex OSHPD and non OSHPD projects.
  • Works collaboratively with USC Capital Construction and Design.
  • Manages, organizes and schedules facilities/construction projects and/or planning and design projects to meet objectives.
  • Identifies and researches potential problems and alternatives, taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Recommends cost effective solutions to a wide range of problems that meet project requirements.
  • Coordinates and monitors progress of construction.
  • Reads and interprets plans and other technical documents.
  • Provides periodic technical design and/or construction reviews and reports.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, quality assurance, and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Interfaces with regulatory agencies to manage the process of obtaining all required project reviews, permits and approvals.
  • Coordinates with facility occupants for relocations, moves and occupancy.
  • Conducts pre-construction conferences, orientations, review bids and recommends award of contracts.
  • Serves as key resource for project information and resolves problems or questions referred by internal external sources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req High school or equivalent
  • Req Demonstrated ability to write clearly such materials as reports and project supporting documentation, read and interpret complex written documentation such as manuals, blueprints, drawings.
  • Req Ability to demonstrate clear and concise communication.
  • Req Organization/time management skills.
  • Req Knowledge of planning and coordinating multiple functions and disciplines with reference to hospital construction projects.
  • Req Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering or Construction Project Management related field
  • Pref 7 years Management or supervisory experience.
  • Pref 5 years In a healthcare facility working on major construction projects.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The annual base salary range for this position is $110,240.00 - $181,896.00.
