Account Manager – Technical Sales
 
Kelly® Engineering is seeking an Account Manager for a direct hire position with a Tier 1supplier of plastic automotive parts in Auburn Hills. If you are passionate about shaping the world we live in and are ready to reengineer your future, trust the experts at hiring experts.  

Overview 
 
Our client is an injection molder that sells to other Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs in the automotive industry. They are searching for an account manager to join their sales team.
 
In this role, you'll manage and continue to develop relationships with existing OEM automotive customers to uncover, develop, and bid on RFPs. You'll leverage your strong understanding of the RFP, purchasing, and development process within the automotive industry in order to increase sales. You'll be responsible for the maintenance and growth of existing and/or new accounts with targeted clients. This includes supporting daily management of program commercial issues, including production, prototype, and service, as well as growing existing business at a profitable level, developing business partner relationships and identify growth areas/opportunities with existing accounts. Aligns business plan and targets with company's internal strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop external customer relationships through effective communication, courtesy, and exceeding expectations.
  • Leverage network and relationships to create sales opportunities.
  • Manage account(s) internally and externally to maximize customer satisfaction and ensure profitability.
  • Contribute to the development of sales strategies to achieve corporate sales targets and support company vision.
  • Lead sales team in support of meeting deliverables, tasks, and negotiations for all accounts.
  • Coordinate commercial activities throughout the organization, such as engineering changes, quality improvements, quoting, negotiations and reporting.
  • Manage internal/external data, maintain internal sales systems, and track & report changes to leadership.
  • Work with and report to corporate on monthly revenue, profitability of projects, and business plan.
  • Drive optimization by being actively engaged in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Function in a highly collaborative environment where flexibility and teamwork are critical for success.
  • Achieve and exceed financial objectives including cost analysis, margin enhancement and feedback to internal teams for pricing strategies.
  • Accountability for customer satisfaction and New Business RFQ responses.
  • Drive Change Management system for cost accumulation, pricing development, price submission and tracking commercial issues to closure.
  • Establish project objectives, procedures, data collection methods, and performance standards within parameters of corporate policy.
  • Identify project responsibilities, delegating phases and elements to the appropriate personnel.
  • Determine personnel and equipment requirements for projects.
  • Create and execute testing and project performance monitoring protocols.
  • Oversee budgetary, scheduling, and project databases.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical major, or business
  • Proven track record of new business growth
  • Minimum of five years of direct experience leading a cross-functional automotive OEM sales team.
  • Proven OEM sales experience for a Tier 1 or 2 automotive supplier.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferably in a manufacturing environment – this position doesn't have direct reports but does lead individuals that affect the sales cycle.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Solid understanding of the complete sales cycle process from prospecting to closing.
  • Experience independently developing and executing innovative strategies for new sales lead generation.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines is required.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office is required
  • Effective verbal, non-verbal, negotiation and written communication skills are required
  • Ability to sustain a high degree of professionalism in interacting with internal and external customers is required
  • Effective attention to detail, problem solving, analytical and organizational skills is required.
  • Experience in a high-volume parts manufacturing organization such as injection molding, machined or fabricated parts, electronic parts, components experience is preferred.
