Location: Seneca County, NY Rate: $19.00/hour Summer Hours: Monday - Thursday, 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM; Friday, 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM
This is a LONG term temporary position to start immediately.  

Are you a detail-oriented individual with a passion for accuracy and a knack for numbers? We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Accounting Clerk to join our team in Seneca County! This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of our organization and develop your accounting skills.

Typical Work Activities:

  • Reviews claim forms, vouchers, bills, and purchase orders to determine eligibility for payment and verify accuracy, following established procedures and policies.
  • Posts figures to appropriate accounts in hard copy or electronically, ensuring data accuracy.
  • Reconciles entries, including credits and debits.
  • Prepares simple financial or statistical reports from entered data, including account status, current balances, and cash flow.
  • Produces data for state and federal reimbursement claims.
  • Receives cash payments, issues receipts, prepares checks for disbursement, deposits funds, reconciles balances, and posts to ledgers.
  • Deposits bank receipts and handles other banking transactions.
  • Provides routine information orally or in writing in response to inquiries on financial records.
  • Files and maintains records related to payrolls, invoices, vouchers, bills, and correspondence.
  • Receives balances and audits payroll time records.
  • Operates calculator, computer, and related office equipment.
Town & Village Specific Duties:
  • Processes related payroll taxes and disbursements.
  • Calculates, reviews, prints, and mails water bills, adjusting as seasonal.
  • Prepares and posts year-end entries (after December activity is closed).
  • Prints and distributes 1099s and W2s.
  • Closes out books for the year and prepares/files the annual report to the Office of the State Comptroller electronically using OCS software.
  • Prepares & files quarterly payroll reports to IRS and NYS.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from high school AND One (1) year of full-time work experience
