Job Description: Operator Position: Operator
Location: West Sacramento
Shift: Swing 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM with OT
Pay Rate: $17.00/hr Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate MLOCR machines to sort and barcode mail received from customers.
  • Maintain accuracy and productivity standards while running the equipment.
  • Follow MPTQM practices and policies to assure the quality of output by double-checking the date, weight, thickness, presort slug, indicia, postage rate, class of mail, etc.
  • Check barcodes for quality (print quality, spacing, etc.)
  • Understand machine software and how and when to change sort plans, set address blocks, etc.
  • Maximize read rates on the mail by making appropriate adjustments and/or notifying a supervisor.
  • Assist sweepers as needed.
  • Ensure proper tray labels and correct mail placement.
  • Understand machine software and utilize it properly.
  • Stay informed of Acceptance Times and truck departure schedules; ensure mail is prepared accordingly.
  • Ensure the machine operates correctly, notifying technicians or supervisors of any issues.
  • Troubleshoot or seek assistance with machine malfunctions.
  • Maintain the area around the machine to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of postal regulations related to barcoded mailings.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of mail processing and flow.
  • Physically capable of standing, walking, stooping, and bending up to 100% of the time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Minimize downtime by re-feeding rejects, fan-sorting residuals, etc.
  • Basic understanding of English to follow safety and operational directions communicated in English, irrespective of the native language.
