What's a typical day as a Medical Device Assembler? You'll be: Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Inspecting, weighing, packaging, and sorting defective medical devices

  • Manually assembling small parts using hand tools, fixtures, and/or equipment

  • Performing visual inspections using magnification tools to ensure quality

  • Completing documentation such as production records and work orders

  • Weighing, labeling, and packaging finished products

  • Assembling various components per work instructions

  • Participating in team-based assembly, testing, documentation, and packaging

  • Performing additional tasks like soldering, crimping, bonding, sealing, and taping

  • Using basic computer skills to operate equipment and access documents

  • Reporting quality or operational issues to appropriate leaders

  • Maintaining clean, organized, and hazard-free workspaces

  • Engaging in safety programs and regulatory compliance

  • Ensuring environmental sustainability and proper material handling

Qualifications: Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred)

  • Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred

Minimum Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

  • Three months or more of manufacturing/production experience (preferred)

  • Must be computer-literate and detail-oriented

  • Familiarity with medical device regulations and lean manufacturing a plus

Abilities:
  • Read, write, and communicate clearly in English

  • Perform basic arithmetic using calculators or computers

  • Distinguish colors and inspect product accurately

  • Physically capable of sitting or standing for long periods

  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally

Planning and Decision-Making
  • Ability to recognize safety concerns and escalate appropriately

  • Read work orders to determine proper assembly sequence

  • Know when to involve support departments or leadership

  • Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts

Compliance
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and procedures
    (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, EHS regulations)

  • Participate in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives

Impact and Scope
  • Proper handling and documentation impacts customer satisfaction and compliance

  • Poor assembly or inaccurate records could result in regulatory issues

  • Attention to detail ensures product quality and workplace safety

Key Internal and External Relationships
  • Must maintain professionalism and composure at all times

  • Able to work effectively with cross-functional team members
