Position Details:- Position: Boat Lamination Technician
- Pay Rate: $17/hr
- Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (Enjoy a three-day weekend: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!)
- Location: Hartsville, SC
- Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
As a Boat Laminator Technician, you will:
- Laminates layers of fiberglass on molds to form boat decks and hulls.
- Selects precut fiberglass mat, cloth, and wood bracing materials, according to model number of the boat.
- Places layers of mat and cloth in mold and smooths out wrinkles by hand.
- Mixes catalyst/resin into fiberglass cloth and mat using hand tools. Works saturated mat and cloth into shape of mold with hands and squeegee, to remove air bubbles and smooth surfaces.
- Bonds wood reinforcing strips to deck and cabin structures, using resin-saturated fiberglass.
- May specialize in molding part of boat and be designated deck molder.
- May install stringers and flooring in hull.
- Active Listening Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Reading Comprehension Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
- Arm-Hand Steadiness The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
- Multilimb Coordination The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
- Near Vision The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
- Problem Sensitivity The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is a problem.
- Trunk Strength The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without "giving out" or fatiguing.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in boat building, fiberglass work, or a related field is required.
- Knowledge of fiberglass materials, lamination techniques, and blueprint reading.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in various positions.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in the lamination process.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
- Willingness to work collaboratively in a team environment.
