Description

Kelly Science and Clinical is currently seeking candidates for a Cell Culture Technician position at a fertility and women's healthcare company in SW Houston. The overall responsibility of this position is to support the daily operations of the Bioassay Laboratories and assist with testing of products used in human assisted reproductive laboratories. In addition, the Cell Culture Technician will oversee the collection, preparation, and monitoring of mice embryos via natural mating or IVF techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a variety of cell-based bioassays including the Mouse Embryo Assay (MEA), Human Sperm Survivability Assay (HSSA), and Bacterial Endotoxin Testing (BET) for routine product analysis and release
  • Perform endotoxin bioassays using quantitative (Kinetic Turbidimetric) and qualitative (Gel-Clot) systems
  • Conduct osmolarity and pH testing
  • Collect and interpret data and prepare Certificates of Analysis
  • Collect embryos from rodent oviducts and uterine tissue
  • Collect embryos for cryopreservation and maintain cryo-inventory and storage units
  • Formulate media and solutions for routine testing
  • Manage daily operations, preventative maintenance, and calibration of lab equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols
  • Investigate deviations and non-conformities and conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Assist with lab housekeeping
Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field is preferred
  • Fresh BS graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Experience with cell culture and aseptic technique is required
  • 2-4 years of relevant laboratory experience is preferred
  • Good hand-eye coordination is required to be successful in this role
  • Ability to follow procedures and protocols with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed including one weekend per month
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs with the ability to learn internal lab and quality systems
This is a long term (~12 months) assignment with the potential to be hired based on individual performance and business needs. The work schedule is Monday-Friday day shift with mandatory weekend work once per month. Pay rate is commensurate upon level of education and applicable experience.
