Description

Kelly Science is seeking a Chief Scientific Officer for a growing company located in Boston, MA to drive innovation in bioengineering, NAMs and mini heart technologies.

Summary:

The CSO will lead the internal R&D pipeline, craft scientific strategy, and ensure the company remains a global leader in advancing cardiac disease modeling and mini heart technology validations. This executive role offers the rare opportunity to shape the future of cardiac research and make a lasting impact on healthcare innovation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead the company's long-term scientific vision and strategic direction.
  • Develop and execute strategies for the company's mini heart technology, focusing on cardiac diseases and toxicity testing.
  • Oversee all scientific research activities, ensuring rigor, compliance, and excellence in laboratory operations.
  • Lead, mentor, and recruit multidisciplinary scientific teams to foster innovation and collaboration.
  • Drive intellectual property creation, patent filings, and IP protection strategies.
  • Represent the company externally through publications, conference presentations, and engagement with advisory boards.
  • Translate laboratory discoveries into marketable products and services for clients, including pharmaceutical partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (internally and externally) to ensure successful commercialization of scientific products and technologies, aligning scientific objectives with market needs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Bioengineering or related life sciences discipline.
  • Extensive post-doctoral and industry experience, ideally in bioengineering, NAM, or organ-on-a-chip technologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing and mentoring scientific teams.
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven record of scientific publication, innovation, and industry impact.
