What's a typical day as a Workers' Compensation Claims Examiner? You'll be:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyzing and managing complex and high-exposure workers' compensation claims, including litigation and rehabilitation cases
-
Developing and executing effective action plans for timely claim resolution
-
Negotiating settlements within designated authority levels
-
Calculating and assigning reserves, ensuring adequacy over the life of each claim
-
Managing benefit payments, claim adjustments, and state filings within statutory limits
-
Coordinating vendors for investigations or litigation management
-
Applying cost containment strategies to control claim expenses
-
Handling claim recoveries, including subrogation and Second Injury Fund recoveries
-
Communicating claim activities with claimants and clients while maintaining strong professional relationships
-
Ensuring compliance with claim documentation and coding standards
-
Referring cases to supervisors or management as appropriate
This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:

Minimum 3 years of California Workers' Compensation claims experience (required)

SIP Certification (required)
-
Public entity claims experience (a plus, but not required)

Bachelor's degree preferred but not mandatory

Strong knowledge of workers' compensation principles, laws, and disability duration

Excellent negotiation, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and claims management systems

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a remote environment

Strong written and verbal communication
