Communications Specialist
Onsite in New Jersey. Some hybrid - Must be able to commute to New Brunswick & Raritan, NJ.
Pay rate starts at $34/hr + (DOE) W2

Key responsibilities include crafting content for different stakeholders, translating complex information, collaborating with cross functional teams, and analyzing communication strategies for effectiveness. Strong candidates possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a knack for creative content creation, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a healthcare or Life Science setting. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide ~1 Home article per quarter.
  • Including WiSTEM2D Home Site Support (Women in Science Technology Engineering Math Manufacturing Design).
  • Distribution List (DL) management (on Airtable).
  • Refresh WiSTEM2D SharePoint.
  • Support for stem2d.org site update.
  • Mid-Year Celebration and Year-End Celebration support.
  • Create content (slides, calendar invite, recap email, etc.), logistics, etc., Collaborating with WiSTEM2D pillar leads.
  • National STEM Day (November) internal communications.
  • Review communications content as needed (Home articles, emails, Viva Engage, etc.).
  • Having regular connections with WiSTEM2D pillar leads to stay up to date on happenings.
  • Collaborate with team and assist with drafting/editing content including but not limited to internal/external stories, internal Viva Engage posts, social media posts, webpage copy, internal newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, and infographics.
  • Responsible for maintaining/updating: WiSTEM²D Communications Toolkit, Calendar of events, Photo Archive, and team SharePoint.
  • Provide bi-annual WiSTEM²D event communications/creative support (including the coordination of video reels, panel sessions, in-person gatherings, etc.).
  • Coordinate regular WiSTEM²D Communications meetings and pillar updates with cross-function global teams.
  • Oversee the WiSTEM²D program global mailbox, distribution list, and newsletters (creating strategic and consistent email communications).
  • Work with team to prepare a routine WiSTEM²D program communications update to pillar leads and steer committee members.
  • Provide support for ad-hoc projects.
  • Provide a weekly status report to client management – brief summary of the projects/initiatives that is the focus each week (bulleted format via email).
    Required Skills and Experience:
  • Must be able to commute between New Brunswick & Raritan, NJ – with some hybrid capabilities.
  • 3+ years as a Communications Specialist/similar role.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, along with strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Experience in creating and managing diverse communication content, including internal articles, newsletters, event collateral, social media posts, and website updates, with the ability to translate complex STEM topics for varied audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and platforms simultaneously, including SharePoint, Airtable (for distribution list management), and corporate intranet tools, while ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional and global teams, coordinate regular communications and meetings, and support large-scale events and campaigns within a healthcare or life sciences environment.
  • Degree: Preferred.

Required Technical Skills:
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Airtable and Viva Engage.
