Kelly® Engineering is seeking a skilled Design Engineer for a direct-hire position with a leading manufacturer of composites and engineered components in Houston, TX! Overview

This client specializes in composites, elastomers, and metalwork, often combining these materials to create custom solutions for their clients. Their team of professionals offer expertise on composite design, materials, and manufacturing plans, as well as providing technical and testing resources for new product development.

The Design Engineer will provide engineering and technical support to achieve our manufacturing goals, focusing on addressing production challenges, optimizing methods, and implementing cost improvement programs. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards while aligning with customer needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Effect short-term and some long-term business goals through design initiatives.
  • Analyze and evaluate assigned projects to meet business standards, practices, and product requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership to support personnel on projects and tasks, mentoring others in the organization.
  • Document technical data generated for assigned projects.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments.
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
  • Provide technical sales support as needed.
  • Assist in driving departmental metrics and continuous improvements.
  • Manage projects aligned with our customers' design needs.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering field.
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (both technical and non-technical).
  • Ability to positively communicate and execute customer expectations throughout the teams.
  • Leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment.
  • Fosters teamwork within own department and between other departments.
  • Problem-solving experience or expertise.
  • 3+ years' experience in upstream oil and gas products.
  • Experience with composites and resin systems.
  • Proficient in CAD systems, especially SolidWorks.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with cross-functional experience.
  • Technological proficiency, including relevant engineering tools.
  • Embraces Continuous Improvement and actively participates as a leader and contributor to overall objectives and Lean initiatives.
  • Understanding of Six Sigma tools to make data-based recommendations and decisions.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with composites and resin systems.
  • Understanding of Six Sigma tools.
  • Knowledge of compression molding and composite manufacturing methods.
