Now Hiring: Document Control Assistant (6–12 Month Assignment)
Location: South Deerfield, MA
Pay Rate: $26.00 per hour
Job Type: Temporary Assignment (6–12 Months)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Document Control Assistant for a 6 to 12-month temporary assignment. The successful candidate will support engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams by reviewing technical documentation and maintaining accurate records for bills of materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), and more.

This role is essential in ensuring data accuracy and timely document control in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review engineering drawings, parts lists, formulations, and sales orders for completeness and accuracy.

  • Create and maintain BOMs, resin formulations, routings, and master part listings.

  • Maintain and update ECO/ECR databases and track change status through completion.

  • Coordinate the release of engineering documents to appropriate departments and external partners.

  • Organize and manage engineering file systems, both physical and electronic.

  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in part numbers, materials, and documentation.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure accurate data flow and job coordination.

  • Calculate material quantities and volumes from engineering documentation.

  • Support document change processes including creating and releasing ECOs and related documents.

  • Maintain document revision control and ensure consistency across systems.

  • Participate in cost roll-ups by initiating costing runs when BOMs and routings are finalized.

  • Track and report department metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, document turnaround times).

  • Follow safety procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment working with engineering drawings and BOMs.

  • Proficient in reading blueprints, parts lists, and technical documentation.

  • Familiar with MRP systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

  • Experience with basic measuring tools (e.g., measuring tape, ruler, Vernier micrometer).

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Military Specifications and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR).

  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.

  • Familiarity with ISO and ASTM documentation standards.
