Job Title: Document Control Specialist (contract)
Location: Boring, OR
Rate: $28-30/hr.
Length of Assignment: 3-6 months with potential to convert to permanent employee

Job Summary:  The Document Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining the documentation pertaining to our Food Safety Programs.  The primary focus of this position is in support of the required document control of the Safe Quality Food system (SQF).  This position will assist in the maintenance of regulatory certifications. The main responsibility is to maintain all documentation at the direction of the Regulatory Supervisor and Compliance Analyst.

Food Safety & Quality:
As an employee it is your duty to ensure all products manufactured in this facility are safe for the consumers.  Therefore, all employees are responsible for reporting food quality & safety issues and/or concerns to their direct supervisor immediately. All employees must understand and follow the food safety rules and Good Manufacturing Practice's (GMP) as explained in the Employee Handbook to provide safe quality food to the consumer.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage physical and electronic archival activities for controlled documents in accordance with applicable company retention policies and procedures.
  • COA approval and generation through ERP and reporting software.
  • Utilize department databases/spreadsheets to track and manage controlled documents.
  • Audit document system and timeline to assure technical document, quality expectation documents and certification compliance.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-up of non-conformities of the SQF Program by developing and putting in place realistic action plans with the help of a cross functional team.
  • Maintain updates to all company certifications. 
  • Assist in the creation & revisions of Final Product Specifications for all products produced.
  • Maintain all supplier documentation.
                                                                                                                                                                               
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  1. Preferred a minimum of a bachelor degree in a related field, food science, science, manufacturing, operations or business or 2 years related experience.
  2. Must be confident in performing detail-oriented tasks of a repetitive nature. 
  3. Must have excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
  4. Demonstrate working knowledge of GMP and regulatory requirements; ex: National Organic Program, Kosher Program, Non-GMO Project, Food & Drug Administration.
  5. Skilled in computer systems and MS Office with working knowledge of computer databases.
  6. Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and handle multiple tasks in an effective manner.
  7. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize tasks.
  8. Ability to write concise reports and business correspondence.
  9. Ability to follow instructions furnished in written, oral and/or diagram form as well as the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Working Conditions/Physical Factors:
  1. Worker exposed to a loud working environment while in manufacturing plant.
  2. Worker exposed to hazards in the workplace such as proximity to equipment conducting extreme heat, moving parts, and electrical current.
  3. Must be able to work in environment containing allergens (nuts, milk, wheat, etc.).
