This role offers a unique hybrid opportunity, blending remote work flexibility with on-site presence during the facility's construction phase.

The Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust safety, health, and environmental program at a new greenfield manufacturing site, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering a culture of safety and sustainability. This role also oversees facility management, including regulatory compliance, maintenance, and infrastructure operations, to support the site's production ramp-up over the next 12 months. The SHE Manager will collaborate with leadership to integrate SHE principles into the transfer of equipment and processes from an existing company site, ensuring a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operation.

Essential Functions:
•    Develop, implement, and lead the site's SHE policies and programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
•    Conduct risk assessments and establish safety protocols for high-precision machining, assembly operations, and facility activities during the startup phase and beyond.
•    Oversee facility management, including building maintenance, utilities, waste management, and regulatory permitting, to ensure operational readiness and compliance.
•    Lead safety training programs for employees and contractors, covering topics such as machine safety, hazardous materials handling, and emergency response.
•    Monitor and report SHE performance metrics (e.g., incident rates, near misses, environmental emissions) to site leadership and global SHE teams, driving continuous improvement.
•    Coordinate equipment and process transfers from the existing site, ensuring safety and environmental considerations are integrated into installation and commissioning.
•    Manage environmental compliance, including air emissions, wastewater, and hazardous waste programs, aligning with sustainability goals and regulatory standards.
•    Conduct regular SHE audits and inspections, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks across operations and facilities.
•    Serve as the site's primary liaison with regulatory agencies, wroker's comp, emergency services, and facility service vendors, ensuring timely reporting and resolution of issues.
•    Oversee emergency preparedness, including fire safety, evacuation drills, and spill response plans, to protect personnel and assets.
•    Collaborate with the Operations Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, and Quality Manager to align SHE and facility objectives with production goals.

Skills / Knowledge / Experience:
•    Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) preferred.
•    5+ years of experience in SHE management within a manufacturing environment, with at least 3-5 years overseeing facility management responsibilities.
•    Proven expertise in OSHA regulations, environmental compliance (EPA, RCRA), and facility operations (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing maintenance).
•    Experience with greenfield site startups or large-scale equipment/process transfers is highly desirable.
•    Strong knowledge of safety risk assessment tools (e.g., JSA, HAZOP) and environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
•    Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, including SHE programs and facility oversight, in a fast-paced, startup environment.
•    Excellent training and communication skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels and influence a safety-first culture.
•    Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, safety management software) to track and improve SHE performance.
•    Experience coordinating with regulatory agencies, contractors, and vendors for facility and environmental compliance.
•    Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, such as during emergency response situations.
