Title: EHS Specialist
Location: Torrance, CA
Job Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time
Salary Range: $75K-$85K (Based on Experience)

SUMMARY
Kelly Engineering is seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to join our client's team for an exciting opportunity! The Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist will implement all OSHA and Cal-OSHA mandated policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment with the support of the Management Team. This position has full ownership of all EHS responsibilities and makes proactive recommendations to ensure company is compliant with all government regulations and industry standards. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages all Cal/OSHA and OSHA requirements while collaborating with staff.
  • Develops health, safety and violence procedures for all areas of the company.
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace violence and safety, first aid and all other required topics for all personnel.
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures and maintains reporting requirements.
  • Coordinates the development of a Safety Team and holds regularly scheduled Safety Meetings.
  • Inspects the facility on a regular basis to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, a schedule of routine inspections and completes regular facility inspections.                
  • Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents and analyze the root causes of all accidents and incidents.
  • Ensures that material safety data sheets (MSDS) are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Maintains records of employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required, while also completing all required hazardous waste government reports.
  • Manages annual evacuation drills.
  • Completes all requested building inspections, e.g. property manager, fire department, and coordinates requested improvements for compliance. 
  • Stays up to date on relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with EHS colleagues within the company to align, where possible on best practices.
  • Other duties as required.
 
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field certification preferred.
  • Five years or more of related experience preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking a plus.
  • Detailed knowledge of safety training requirements. 
  • Detailed knowledge of environmental regulations and policies and familiarity with OSHA, Cal-OSHA, EPA and other regulatory bodies. 
  • Risk assessment skills: Ability to analyze and control potential hazards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills are required to communicate effectively with employees, management and regulatory authorities.
  • Training and education skills are required to deliver EHS training and education programs effectively.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills required to identify and solve problems related to EHS.
  • Must have a strong awareness of company culture and be able to assimilate into a values and teamwork-oriented company.
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
