Job Title: Electronics Technician III
Location: Columbus, IN
Schedule: Nights - Monday through Friday - 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM (train on days within the hours of 8am – 7pm for the first 1 – 2 months)
Pay: $26.67/hr


Job Summary:
Industry leading automotive company is seeking a skilled and experienced Electronics Technician III to support night shift operations at the CSE Controls Lab. The technician will assist in maintaining and troubleshooting electronic test systems and setups, working with complex instrumentation and control systems. This position plays a key role in supporting lab operations, test bench setups, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems, and custom electronic hardware development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute assigned work orders, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Perform hardware setup and maintenance of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and test systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware issues in lab equipment and test benches.
  • Install and configure test system software including CyberApps plant models, LUIS configurations, and support sequences.
  • Modify and maintain wiring harnesses for test benches, integrating engine components (e.g., IAT, EGR, VGT) and sensors.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, serial numbers, hardware cards, and load drawers.
  • Perform calibration and setup maintenance of test systems.
  • Maintain and document CAN panel configurations and actuator cart setups.
  • Conduct scheduled harness maintenance checkouts and coordinate updates as needed.
  • Support equipment hardware checkouts and returns.
  • Collaborate with Hardware Engineers on various lab and project needs.
  • Develop and build custom test hardware and documentation (e.g., ROM boot setups, power supplies).
  • Contribute to the development and updating of troubleshooting guides and technician training materials.
  • Participate in lab upkeep, inventory management, and continuous improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a technician role or related field, preferably within electronics or control systems.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of electronic circuits and components.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting complex systems.
  • Experienced in using electronic tools and data measurement systems (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, DAQs).
  • Familiar with wiring diagrams and system documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and instructions.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Background working in a lab environment with HIL or embedded system testing.
    • Experience with test software platforms and automation tools.
    • Familiarity with CAN communication and vehicle simulation interfaces.
