Fabrication Quality Engineer
 

• Location: Dubuque, Iowa (52001)
• Type: W2 contract (NO C2C OR THIRD PARTY arrangements will be considered)
• Pay Rate: negotiable depending on direct related experience up to $35–$40/hr
• Duration: 12 month contract (Estimated to end 3/2027; contract extension potential)
• Work Authorization: Must be currently located and authorized to work in the United States without current OR future sponsorship requirements. Visa sponsorship is not available, now or in the future, for this position.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Support quality activities in fabrication in the Skid Steer boom, main frame, and pre-paint operations to ensure adherence to standard work and safety protocols.
• Perform in process quality checks and audits according to established guidelines.
• Document non conformances and initiate containment steps when defects are discovered.
• Coordinate with the Quality team to manage suspect material and ensure proper disposition.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturing standards, weld requirements, and inspection criteria.
• Work with inspectors and welders to identify repeat quality issues and drive resolution.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Weld Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in a manufacturing environment—preferably fabrication or welding.
• Strong problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and find root cause.
• Working knowledge of quality systems, inspection criteria, and non conformance documentation.
• Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working closely with operators, skilled trades, and engineering teams.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with welding processes, fixtures, jigs, and fabrication tooling.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement tools (Lean, 5S, ergonomic assessments, etc.).
• Experience working in a union environment
