Description

Food Safety & Quality Technician (3rd Shift) – Food Manufacturing | Temp-to-Hire (3–6 Months)

Kelly Services is hiring a Food Safety & Quality Technician (Technician II – FSQA) for a Chicago Heights food manufacturing operation where quality decisions are made in real time—weights, measurements, labels, metal detection verification, and inventory holds/releases.

Pay: $19.50/hr
Schedule: Mon–Fri | 9:30 PM–6:00 AM (3rd shift)
Hours: 32.5+ hours/week guaranteed (some weeks may run under 40 if production is down; flexibility matters)
Flex: Must be open to occasional 12-hour shifts
Occasional Sunday: rotating pre-op check after sanitation clears (3–4 hours mid-day)
Safety: Steel-toed shoes required
Temp-to-Hire: 3–6 months with Kelly Services, with opportunity to be hired on based on performance/attendance

What you'll do (the real work)
• Rotate hourly production checks:
• Metal detection verification / wand checks
• In-process checks on product being dropped into bins
• Weight + thickness measurement using scale, ruler, calipers
• Verify palletizing/labels and perform pallet weight checks
• Complete documentation (some handwritten forms; computer communication especially on 3rd shift)
• Use inventory tools (D365) to place product on HOLD when out of spec and release when passed
• Escalate issues appropriately (quality coverage changes late night; production supervisors are available)
