Kelly Services is hiring Forklift Operators to start immediately at a large, well-established 3PL distribution center in Ontario, CA.
Job Title: Forklift Operator I
Location: Ontario, CA 91761
Pay Rate: $19.50 per hour
Schedule Options:
- Option 1: Monday–Saturday, 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM
- Days Off: Wednesday and Sunday
- Option 2: Sunday–Friday, 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM
- Days Off: Wednesday and Saturday
Job Summary
The Forklift Operator I is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of material handling equipment to move, locate, stack, and organize merchandise within the distribution center. This role supports warehouse operations by ensuring accurate inventory handling, proper stock rotation, and timely order fulfillment. Operators may also assist with order picking and checking as needed. This position requires operation of sit-down and/or clamp forklift equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate sit-down, clamp, push-pull, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
- Load, unload, move, stack, and store products in designated storage areas
- Unload inbound shipments and transport product to assigned storage locations
- Pull, stage, and prepare products for outbound shipments
- Verify correct product type and quantities prior to loading and shipping
- Perform picking duties in accordance with productivity and customer service standards
- Move product from staging or storage areas into trailers
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Complete required equipment inspections prior to operation
- Use RF scanning equipment to ensure inventory accuracy
- Maintain inventory records and reports to support inventory control and security
- Assist with physical inventories and cycle counts as requested
- Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO)
- Report inventory discrepancies to the inventory control team and assist with resolution
- Identify and report safety concerns to management in a timely manner
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 6 months experience operating double-fork forklifts and/or warehouse distribution equipment
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel
- Experience using RF scanning systems
- Basic math skills with strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of safe equipment operation and warehouse safety standards
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs without restriction
- Ability to stand and walk for 10–12 hours per shift
- Ability to perform frequent bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching above and below the waist
- Ability to work in large distribution centers (over ¼ mile in length)
- Comfortable working in environments with variable noise levels, lighting, and temperature conditions
- Flexibility to work extended or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
