Kelly® Science & Clinical – Facility Technician (Biopharmaceutical/GMP)

Location: Roseville, MN
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Contract Type: 12-month contract to start, 
Pay Rate: $25-40/hour, depending on relevant experience and skills (candidates lacking HVAC and/or boiler experience will not exceed $25-30/hour)

About the Role

Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Facility Technician for a direct-hire (permanent) position with one of our partners in the Twin Cities area. This role offers the opportunity to support daily laboratory and GMP manufacturing operations through hands-on equipment maintenance, facility system support, and participation in continuous improvement initiatives—all while ensuring strict compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance, repair, and calibration support for facility mechanical, electrical, plumbing, BMS/BAS, and scientific utility systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and corrective actions on laboratory and GMP manufacturing equipment (e.g., incubators, biosafety cabinets, environmental monitoring systems, water purification systems).
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of scientific and facility systems, including purified water generation, clean steam, compressed gases, environmental chambers, cleanrooms, fire/life safety systems, and building automation.
  • Support capital projects and facility expansions, including installation and commissioning of new laboratory and manufacturing systems.
  • Provide after-hours support for critical facility and equipment needs as required.
  • Assist with investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA implementation for deviations and non-conformances.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, GxP, FDA, OSHA, and internal quality standards; maintain accurate documentation.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, hazardous materials protocols, and controlled-environment access rules.
  • Coordinate and supervise work performed by external vendors and service providers.
Requirements
  • 3–5 years of experience in a laboratory, GMP manufacturing, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical environment.
  • EPA Section 608 certification preferred.
  • Special boiler operating license preferred.
  • Experience in regulated industries; pharmaceutical background strongly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments, GMP utilities, and cleanroom operations.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, equipment manuals, SOPs, and engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and electronic maintenance/quality systems.
  • Ability to work independently, assess risks, and make well-informed decisions.
