Job Title: Human Resources Generalist

Salary: $89,000 annually ($42.75 per hour on average)
Work Environment: Onsite, 5 days a week (flexibility for occasional off-shifts may be required)

Job Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist plays a crucial role in supporting the hourly workforce at Vermont Creamery. This position is dedicated to managing human resource initiatives, fostering employee relations, and overseeing HR administration for over 100 staff members, primarily within manufacturing roles. The HR Generalist will lead recruitment and onboarding efforts in collaboration with Vermont Creamery leadership and the Land O'Lakes Talent Acquisition team.

A key aspect of this role is the ability to understand the overall business operations and effectively integrate HR functions, demonstrating attention to detail and strong judgement.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in an HR Specialist or Generalist role, or equivalent experience.

  • Proficiency in using HR software and systems effectively.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Exercise independent judgment in executing daily HR tasks.
  • Implement strategic human resource initiatives aligned with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with local, regional, and corporate HR teams to meet plant goals.
  • Manage the recruitment process, including interview logistics, maintaining compliant applicant records, conducting new hire orientations, and compliance training.
  • Assist HR Manager with investigations and corrective action recommendations.
  • Work closely with plant leadership to manage employee performance effectively.
  • Support coaching and development of teams while interpreting labor relations policies.
  • Log and track employee performance and discipline records accurately.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and other HR-related documents.
  • Ensure compliance with legal postings and union information as required.
  • Oversee Attendance Program in collaboration with onsite managers and supervisors.
  • Manage local payroll processes efficiently.
  • Proactively recommend solutions to address organizational needs effectively.
  • Identify and resolve potential issues to drive continuous improvement.
  • Implement and evaluate strategies aimed at enhancing employee engagement and retention.
  • Analyze training needs, coordinate training delivery, and ensure compliance with training requirements.
  • Educate leadership on consistent policy application while promoting positive employee relations.
  • Partner with EHS and plant leadership to manage leave of absence policies and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to EEOC, FMLA, Code of Conduct, Discrimination, Harassment, and other legal/policy frameworks.
