Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Lead Scientist for direct-hire (permanent) position with one of our partners in the Twin Cities area. SUMMARY
The Lead Scientist oversees the production and manufacturing process of new services for the cell line contract manufacturing division.
This role focuses on developing and manufacturing services, including cell line development, validation, and regulatory support in research and diagnostic spaces, expanding on existing services. The ideal candidate will have experience with quoting/budgeting and a strong customer-facing skill set, combined with technical expertise and an entrepreneurial mindset to complement business development efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and characterize mammalian cell lines.
- Conduct assays for cell line validation.
- Prepare regulatory-compliant documentation.
- Ensure proper equipment and personnel requirements.
- Manage projects from start to finish.
- Assist in training junior staff.
- Support external customers and engage in business development activities.
- Provide input on quoting and budgeting for projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelors degree is required, Masters degree or PhD is preferred
- 5-7+ years of professional industry experience in cell line development and characterization.
- While graduate school and post doctoral appointments are highly valuable, these will not be counted toward years of professional industry experience.
- Expertise in various mammalian cell line platforms (ESCs, iPSCs, primary, progenitors, immortalized).
- Experience in a GxP setting is required (GLP or GMP)
- Experience in a CRO or CDMO setting highly favored.
- Strong organizational, written, and communication skills.
Additional Notes
- Location: Coon Rapids, MN
- Full gowning required intermittently.
- Occasional weekend or non-standard hours may be needed.
- Target Salary: approximately $145,000-$185,000 depending on relevant experience and skills
