Make a difference one school day at a time as a substitute Lunch and Recess Aide. This is a great opportunity to be a part of the school and community while maintaining a flexible schedule. No experience needed!  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

FOR CAFETERIA SIDE

  1. Report five minutes prior to the beginning of the first lunch period and remain five minutes after the last recess period
  2. Supervise lunch line, milk and ice-cream lines
  3. Monitor disposal of trash, return of trays/dishes/utensils
  4. Ensure that tables are washed; supervise student clean-up of tables and floors as appropriate
  5. Organize dismissal lines in preparation for recess period

 

FOR RECESS SIDE

  1. Organize and direct activities for students during recess
  2. Distribute and collect playground equipment
  3. Comply with building schedule of times and dates for special events, early dismissals, parent conferences, etc.
  4. Work in concert with other monitors to assist one another in general concerns

FOR BOTH RECESS AND CAFETERIA

  1. Supervise and discipline students in a fair, just and consistent manner in accordance with school policies and practices
  2. Comment on and reinforce positive and appropriate behavior in students
  3. Complete and submit discipline referrals when necessary and notify students of such action
  4. Refer extreme situations to head monitor
  5. Other duties as may be assigned

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

 

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Aptitude in working with children
  3. Ability to communicate in a positive manner with children in resolving conflicts positively
  4. Ability to intercede with children in a positive and constructive manner
  5. Ability to work as a team player
  6. Willingness to learn cooperative games

Physical Demands

  1. Ability to work in a school environment for extended periods of time including, but not limited to standing, some lifting, bending and reaching
  2. Ability to remain out of doors for extended periods of time
  3. Comment on and reinforce positive and appropriate behavior
  4. Must be able to participate in sustained physical activity with children for at least 20 minutes
