Plater – $18.50~$20.00/hr

Job Title: Utility 1 – Plating Department
Department: Plate
Location: Attleboro, MA
Pay Range: $18–$20/hour
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:45 PM

Job Summary

The Utility 1 Plater is responsible for supporting plating operations as assigned by the department supervisor. This includes various pre-plating and plating-related tasks to ensure efficient production and high-quality output.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the responsibilities expected of the Utility 1 Plater:

  • Perform wash operations efficiently and to standard.

  • Execute tubbing operations with consistency.

  • Perform dipping operations as assigned.

  • Complete all responsibilities of the “Step-One” Plater (see below).

Step-One Plater Responsibilities:

  • Fill precious metal baths.

  • Strip lacquer from workpieces.

  • Inspect parts from the nickel bath.

  • Plate using gold, rhodium, palladium, and Hamilton gold.

  • Program and operate rectifiers.

  • Inspect racks after oven processing.

  • Follow all cleaning protocols.

  • Perform maintenance tasks as scheduled by the supervisor.

Level of Responsibility

This role is focused solely on the essential plating operations as outlined above. No additional responsibilities are expected outside the scope of this description.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not include supervisory duties.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Previous plating experience using techniques similar to those at V.H. Blackinton & Co.

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.

  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational abilities.

  • Ability to read and interpret work tickets.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Physical stamina to stand and move throughout a shift.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods.

  • May involve walking, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting up to 40 pounds.

  • Frequent use of hands and arms for tool and equipment operation.

  • Must be able to talk, hear, push, pull, and grasp objects.

Mental & Visual Demands:

  • Work is routine and consistent.

  • Requires sustained visual concentration and attention to detail.

Work Environment:

  • May encounter heat, dust, or other minor environmental factors.

  • Must follow PPE and safety protocols.

  • Occasional exposure to minor hazards requiring safety awareness.
