We are seeking a Material Handler to support our client within the automotive manufacturing industry. The Material Handler is responsible for repackaging bulk materials into designated containers for delivery to customer production lines and handling all movement, organization, and tracking of containers and materials within the logistics area. This role ensures materials are accurately selected, labeled, packaged, and prepared for shipment while maintaining clean, safe, and efficient work areas.
Salary/Payrate/Compensation: $19/hour
Shift: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (maybe some overtime)

Key Responsibilities:
- Select and verify requested bulk materials for repackaging according to production and customer requirements.
- Repackage materials into defined containers, apply appropriate labeling, and form pallets as per specified standards.
- Supply clean, empty equipment to repackaging, shipping, and redistribution areas based on operational needs.
- Handle, move, transport, lift, load, and unload empty and packed equipment throughout the distribution area, utilizing forklifts and other material handling tools as needed.
- Organize and maintain merchandise and equipment in an orderly and properly arranged manner across the logistics and storage areas.
- Ensure containers and materials are free of old labels and debris prior to use; remove and submit old labels as specified.
- Complete and submit all required forms and maintain a detailed daily activity log of all material handling and packaging tasks.
- Coordinate with supervision and team members to set daily priorities and report packaging discrepancies or incomplete deliveries.
- Understand and comply with packaging standards for each part and container, avoiding repackaging immediately after a colleague working on similar items to prevent errors.
- Read and accurately interpret packing sheets, container codes, part numbers, and label information to ensure correct processing and shipment.
- Accurately enter delivery and inventory information into company systems and generate inventory reports when required.
- Request and coordinate inspections for repackaged materials before moving them to the pre-shipment area.
- Use only clean and appropriate containers, ensuring they meet all customer and company standards.
- Handle containers and materials with care, ensuring all items are placed according to procedures and never thrown or mishandled.
- Support team effectiveness through collaboration and clear communication; maintain a proactive and focused approach while working under pressure.
- Perform all work in accordance with safety, organizational, cleanliness, and environmental standards, complying with labor regulations and supporting company initiatives.
Has the authority to independently make necessary decisions and resolve issues relating to packaging and material handling duties, within company policies.
Professional Skills and Requirements:
- High school diploma or higher.
- Proficiency in English required; Spanish language skills desirable.
- Basic computer and inventory system skills, strong analytical logic, and ability to scan and interpret labels and materials.
- Experience in inventory management, quality control, time management, and understanding of packaging standards.
- Ability to identify different materials/containers and understand all codes and labeling relevant to shipping.
- Organized and able to memorize material identification; able to comprehend and follow precise instructions.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities; able to work independently and under pressure.
- Demonstrates attention to detail, proactivity, and the ability to avoid distractions in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in safe operation of forklifts and material handling tools, as well as adherence to workplace safety and environmental standards.
Fully comply with all safety, environmental, and energy management policies and regulations, ensuring safe operations in all material handling and packaging activities.
