Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist

Location: St. Louis, MO

Job Type: Contract

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM

Pay Rate: $20-$25/hr depending on experience

Overview:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team in St. Louis, MO. The role involves specializing in writing appeals and requesting medical records, requiring strong analytical skills and exceptional communication abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Medical Billing & Coding: Accurately enter patient information, along with diagnosis and procedure codes, into billing systems.
  • Appeals Writing: Craft detailed appeals for denied claims, ensuring compliance with insurance protocols to maximize reimbursement.
  • Medical Records Management: Request, review, and organize medical records from healthcare providers to support billable services.
  • Insurance Verification: Confirm patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to claim submission.
  • Claim Submission & Follow-Up: Submit claims promptly, follow up on unpaid claims, and conduct necessary research and adjustments.
  • Communication: Act as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies, efficiently addressing inquiries and resolving billing issues.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in medical billing, with focus on appeals and records management.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and billing software; TELCOR experience is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance policies and denial management processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Certification in Medical Billing & Coding or related field preferred.
