Medical Billing Specialist
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist in St. Louis, MO specializing in writing appeals and requesting medical records. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of medical billing processes and insurance guidelines. This is a contract position.
Responsibilities
- Medical Billing & Coding: Accurately enter patient information, diagnosis codes, and procedure codes into billing systems.
- Appeals Writing: Craft detailed and articulate appeal letters for denied claims, ensuring compliance with insurance protocols and maximizing reimbursement.
- Medical Records Management: Request, review, and organize medical records from healthcare providers, ensuring all documentation supports billable services.
- Insurance Verification: Confirm patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to claim submission.
- Claim Submission & Follow-Up: Submit claims timely and follow up on unpaid claims, including conducting necessary research and adjustments.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies, addressing inquiries and resolving billing issues efficiently.
- Compliance: Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, specifically within appeals and records management.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and billing software – TELCOR experience a plus
- Strong knowledge of insurance policies and denial management processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with good organizational and time management skills.
- Certification in Medical Billing & Coding or related field preferred.
