Put your career in motion with a meaningful, mission-driven opportunity. Join the Arizona Department of Veterans' Services (AZDVS) as an Outreach Specialist supporting the Homes for Heroes Initiative, a statewide effort to end veteran homelessness.

Why you should apply to be an Outreach Specialist:
? Location: Remote – Must reside in Pima County (Tucson area)
? Pay Rate: $40/hr
? Schedule: Part-Time, 20 hours per week (Flexible between 6 AM – 7 PM)
? Employment Type: Project-Based (7 months)
? Work Setup: Remote with required travel throughout Pima County

? What's a typical day as an Outreach Specialist? You will:

  • Conduct targeted outreach and build relationships with government agencies, non-profits, housing providers, employers, and veterans with lived experience.

  • Facilitate virtual and in-person meetings to gather feedback on best practices, challenges, and service gaps related to veteran homelessness.

  • Compile a comprehensive resource list of community services not currently found in statewide service databases.

  • Work with the program coordinator and data analyst to support development of a unified, data-informed plan to end veteran homelessness in the Pima County CoC region.

  • Use social media and digital tools to support outreach, communication, and engagement efforts.

  • Attend all virtual team meetings and participate in required on-site stakeholder sessions.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:

  • At least 1 year of experience in community outreach or a closely related role.

  • Strong verbal communication and meeting facilitation skills.

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse individuals and organizations.

  • Experience with social media, digital outreach tools, and virtual meeting platforms.

  • Knowledge of federal housing programs (HUD-VASH, SSVF, GPD).

  • Understanding of best practices in homeless services.

  • Residency in Pima County, with the ability to travel throughout the region.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Communications, or related field.

  • Knowledge of SWOT analysis.

  • Military service experience or work with veteran populations.

  • Lived experience related to homelessness or veteran services.
