Manufacturing Operator – Powder Coat
Location: Farmington, CT
Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Pay Range: $21.90–$35.56/hour ($43,700–$72,800)
We are hiring a Manufacturing Operator I – Powder Coat to support powder coating and finishing operations at a manufacturing facility in Farmington, CT. This hands-on role is critical to ensuring high-quality, zero-defect finishes and on-time production in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
The ideal candidate takes pride in precision work, follows standardized processes, and contributes to continuous improvement efforts. This position offers long-term growth potential within a collaborative manufacturing team.
Key Responsibilities-
Load parts onto the conveyor line and prepare them for powder coating (taping, plugging, bonding, etc.)

Verify parts are clean and dry prior to entering the powder coat spray booth

Unload finished parts and perform 100% quality inspections

Handle parts and production paperwork carefully to prevent damage, defects, or delays

Follow established rework procedures for defective parts from internal production or customer returns

Operate tools and equipment including forklifts, drill presses, power drills, air tools, hand grinders/orbital tools, and pressure washers

Deburr, grind, clean, and touch up sheet metal parts as required

Adjust cleaning solutions on the parts wash line as needed

Assist with paint color changeovers at spray booths

Perform routine checks in the powder coat area following standard work instructions

Read and interpret blueprints and written specifications, including metric measurements

Support 5S initiatives, preventive maintenance, and shop floor management activities

Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to powder coating and finishing processes

Stand for extended periods and lift up to 70 lbs as required

Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment (powder coating experience preferred)

Strong knowledge of metal preparation and powder painting techniques preferred

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production setting

High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality

Ability to read blueprints and follow written specifications, including metric measurements

Familiarity with MS Office, quality systems, or lean manufacturing practices is a plus

Two-year technical degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
