Description

Job Title: External Press Assistant - Set-Up Operator Primary Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Support Press Operations: Assist the pressman with all aspects of preparing and running a print job to ensure seamless production processes.
  • Material Handling: Stage raw material rolls for operators, ensuring core tags are accessible, and load raw materials for production.
  • Quality Assurance: Make splices, verify their quality, and assist in addressing web breaks.
  • Changeover Assistance: Support operators during changeovers and label finished rolls accurately.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Keep track of roll changes, maintain logs, and report any equipment breakdowns to supervisors and maintenance staff.
  • Goal Setting: Aim to independently operate a press, showcasing dedication and a commitment to skill development.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with department managers and Quality Assurance teams on quality-related issues and participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate completion of all required documentation.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a neat and organized pressroom and facilitate the relocation of skids to ensure product separation.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Work overtime as needed and cover for operators during vacations or breaks.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Consultation: Work closely with the Press Hall supervisor to maximize the efficiency of press operations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased productivity.
  • Professional Development: Engage in initiatives that promote personal and operational growth within the press hall.
Education and Experience:
  • Understanding of Operations: Must comprehend upstream and downstream operations and satisfactorily perform essential departmental duties.
  • Hands-On Knowledge: Experience in troubleshooting equipment and providing feedback to supervisors is highly desired.
  • Qualifications: HS Diploma or GED required; S.M.E.D. Training is a plus. A minimum of one year of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.

  • Accountability: Take initiative and responsibility for assigned tasks.
  • Communication: Report errors or incidents to appropriate personnel promptly.
