Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist near Skokie, IL.

Direct Hire
Salary Range: $21.00 Hourly + $2/hr shift differential 
Shift:11pm- 7:15am

Summary

The QA Specialist  is responsible for monitoring products and employee practices on the manufacturing floor to ensure the safety and quality of products.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Report any food safety and quality issues to personnel with authority to take action.
  2. Perform QA in-process inspections for each department/line once per shift, covering:
    • Production paperwork
    • Retain sample
    • Code date/lot number/best by date
    • Weight check documentation
    • Metal detection documentation
    • Label and color code
    • Department cleanliness
    • Employee GMP practices
    • Allergen cross-contamination checks
  3. Conduct daily scale checks.
  4. Manage product holds:
    • Place on hold materials for quality/food safety per policy.
    • Send electronic hold reports via SharePoint.
    • Release held products upon approval.
    • Generate disposal reports for materials to be disposed.
  5. Perform metal detector checks as an audit during production.
  6. Conduct verifications on DVU and perform alarm checks for roasters.
  7. Validate changeovers on production lines and perform ATP swabbing post-sanitation.
  8. Conduct environmental swabbing as per manufacturing policy.
  9. Perform yearly allergen validation.
  10. Maintain QA supply inventory.
  11. Prepare retain samples for Production.
  12. Conduct internal plant audits.
  13. Conduct audits for glass and brittle plastic.
  14. Perform annual magnet pull tests.
  15. Biannual metal detection tests on metal detectable ear plugs and band-aids.
  16. Monitor GMP on the floor and report daily issues.
  17. Train new QA Techs and QA Specialists.
  18. Generate maintenance work requests.
  19. Shut down lines/departments for serious food safety issues.
  20. File QA documents.
  21. Conduct additional functions as required by the QA department.
  22. Check oil FFA and water chlorine levels.
  23. Serve as backup for QA Specialist Level I.
Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma; college education is a plus.
  • At least 1 year of QA/QC or operational experience in food manufacturing.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
