Quality Control Laboratory Technician
 
Pay Rate: $21-24 DOE
Shift:
Training Hours: 10:00 am to 6:30 pm
Regular Hours: 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm
Duration: Temp-to-Hire (~ 6month temp period)
 
Summary:
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing standard quality control tests and analyses on incoming raw materials, raw samples, and finished products. This role includes preparing standards for comparison, maintaining accurate records, calibrating instruments, and receiving instruction from QC Chemists and R&D Scientists. The position involves regular interaction with R&D staff, Production, Purchasing, and inter-company lab personnel to ensure quality standards and procedures are met. A positive work atmosphere is crucial, requiring excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine tests (e.g., Brix, pH, color, turbidity) on products.
  • Pull and evaluate samples from the cold box and incoming raw materials.
  • Evaluate incoming raw material samples for compliance with specifications.
  • Collect, review, and file Certificates of Analysis for all raw materials.
  • Maintain up-to-date QC records in FABS.
  • Document CCP-5 Pathogens, CCP-6 Agrichemical analysis, and CCP-3 Patulin.
  • Monitor raw material periodic testing program for HACCP plan compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and recommend solutions for QC function problems.
  • Prepare samples for outside testing as needed.
  • Perform incoming and outgoing tanker inspections before unloading or filling.
  • Organize, store, clean up, and dispose of QC retained samples.
  • Clean and calibrate all QC lab instruments regularly.
  • Maintain a clean working area and sufficient inventory of lab supplies.
  • Establish and implement QC procedures for continuous improvement, including record keeping, trend analysis, specification development, and timely reporting.
  • Provide training for new employees as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and policies.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
  • Minimum B.A. in a related field or 2 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to move about in a production and lab environment.
  • Visual acuity to evaluate sample appearance and use lab instruments.
  • Demonstrated taste and aroma sense acuity.
  • Flexibility to report to any company facility as needed, sometimes with same-day notice.
