Quality Control Manager
 
Kelly® Engineering is seeking a Quality Control Manager for a direct hire position with a manufacturing client in Chicago Heights, IL. If you are passionate about shaping the world we live in and are ready to reengineer your future, trust the experts at hiring experts.  


Overview 
 
Our client is a privately held manufacturer that has welding, fabrication, millwork, and assembly operations.   
 
In this role, you'll be a working manager that will build the quality department by establishing procedures & processes. You will develop relevant documentation, standard departmental and inspection standards and allocate or hire staff resources in order to ensure manufactured products meet set standards of quality, reliability, and performance. This is a highly detail-oriented role, requiring familiarity with manufacturing processes such fabrication, machining, assembly, welding, power coating combined with extensive knowledge of specifications and product testing.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Establish quality procedures, standards, and specifications for a company
  • Create documentation templates, work instructions, PFMEAs as needed
  • Identify and close gaps in quality procedures and quality systems
  • Offer recommendations to company management on ways to improve on existing quality processes
  • Establish, lead and execute inspection (incoming, in process and final) and testing
  • Lead containment efforts for part nonconformance
  • Work with manufacturing and engineering on corrective actions
  • Collect, compile, and analyze relevant quality statistical data to obtain information regarding quality performance
  • Supervise technicians, inspectors, and other company staff to ensure they perform their duties in line with established quality procedures
  • Monitor product development processes to identify deviations from quality policies
  • Review existing process and product specification to identify the need for improvement or upgrade
  • Approve compliant products and reject defective ones
  • Prepare and present reports to update upper management on quality activities
  • Maintain proper records of quality test, procedures, and standards
  • Directs quality control personnel to ensure achievement of company objectives.
  • Ensures that quality system requirements are maintained and reported.
  • Evaluates current procedures and practices; develops and implements improvements as needed.
  • Identifies technical problems and develops solutions.
  • Reviews all data generated in support of method validation and stability studies.
  • Develops and maintains department budget.
  • Ensures equipment is maintained in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by higher management.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree and 3-5 years related experience or 10+ years relevant experience in quality leadership in a fabrication/welding or machining environment.
  • Strong understanding quality factors related to mechanical parts, blueprint interpretation, GD&T, new products introductions
  • Structured problem solving and continuous improvement mentality
  • Proficient with 8D, Six Sigma tools
  • Record of building or improving upon a quality department
  • Interpersonal skills to collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and customers at all levels
  • Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish is preferred
