Job Title: Quality Assurance Supervisor- Permanent Position

Primary Purpose: The Quality Assurance Supervisor ensures the inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to guarantee adherence to established quality standards. This role is responsible for developing inspection protocols, defining sampling procedures, and determining the equipment and mechanisms required for the testing process. Additionally, the QA Supervisor will recommend changes in material, part, and product specifications based on inspection results, and may formulate and revise quality control policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:

  • Quality Programs Development and Implementation:
    Assist the manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining programs focused on providing safe and high-quality foods (e.g., food safety plans, environmental monitoring, hold & release processes, etc.).
  • Training and Development:
    Collaborate in the creation and facilitation of training on quality programs for managers and employees.
  • Non-Conformance Management:
    Communicate non-conformances, trends, and compliance information to managers and supervisors, providing clear instructions or recommendations for corrective actions.
  • QA Function and Staff Management:
    Manage QA functions and staff under the direction of the QA Manager, including:
    • Coordinating sample preparation, testing, and shipment.
    • Providing work direction, guidance, career development, proficiency/skill testing, performance management, and scheduling.
    • Ensuring safe work practices are followed by the QA team.
    • Overseeing the site's glass and brittle plastic audit.
  • Audit Leadership:
    Serve as the backup lead on various audits (e.g., SQF, USDA, FDA, Kosher, customer inspections, Organic, etc.), ensuring:
    • Managers and supervisors understand regulations, the audit process, document practices, and compliance requirements.
    • Serve as the backup facility representative throughout the audit process, including follow-up actions.
    • Resolve any issues identified during audits.
  • Customer Complaint Resolution:
    Respond to customer complaints, demonstrating excellent customer service and collaborating with other facilities as needed to address concerns effectively.
  • Sanitation Oversight:
    Oversee sanitation practices, ensuring proper procedures are followed to maintain a safe and high-quality product.
  • Quality Inspections:
    Conduct quality inspections, including ingredient checks, equipment calibration, GMP audits, and more.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in Quality Assurance within a food manufacturing environment.
  • HACCP Certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience with SQF or other relevant third-party audits.
  • SQF Practitioner Certification (or ability to obtain).
  • PCQI Certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Proficient data analysis skills.
  • Highly organized and efficient with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Sensory skills for quality inspections and assessments.
  • Ability to balance QA standards with production demands, finding compromise when necessary.
Preferred:
  • Experience in the dairy industry.
  • Management experience in quality assurance or related functions.
  • Background in sanitation practices.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position supervises Quality Assurance Leads and Technicians.
Work Environment:
This role is primarily based in a professional office environment. Some time may be spent in manufacturing or production environments, where proper safety and cleanliness protocols must be adhered to.
