JOB TITLE: Operations Officer I – Real Estate Secured Lending (RESL)

SELLING POINTS OF POSITION:

  • Long-term role with potential for extension and permanent hire
  • Entry point to underwriting roles, with clear career progression toward RESL underwriting based on performance

BEST VS AVERAGE CANDIDATE:
  • Previous experience with mortgage lending concepts
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple systems and regulatory requirements

SUMMARY OF DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide operational support to the Sales Channel and Credit Underwriting teams with a customer-focused approach
  • Review, update, and analyze credit documentation to ensure submission quality and regulatory compliance
  • Execute multiple-step tasks related to Real Estate Secured Lending products across various systems and applications
  • Assist in ensuring documentation meets all legal and credit policy requirements

MUST HAVE:
  • Previous experience in a professional or corporate environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven problem-solving abilities

NICE TO HAVE:
  • Experience in mortgage lending or related financial services
DISQUALIFIERS:
  • Mortgage or real estate license (candidates holding these will not be considered)

EDUCATION:
Post-secondary education required

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
CUSTOMER:
  • Provide guidance and support to business partners on a broad range of credit products within assigned authorization limits
  • Deliver operational and credit processing activities to meet business objectives and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Ensure complete and accurate data input in the origination system, supporting loan documentation preparation
  • Reconcile, verify, and process all necessary credit support materials to facilitate customer credit approval
  • Respond to business partner or customer inquiries by reviewing credit files and documentation
  • Address and escalate issues promptly to ensure efficient problem resolution
  • Interpret credit policies, legal requirements, and regulatory guidelines to ensure loan documents comply with standards
  • Provide direction and assist the team with complex account administration issues as required
