Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist/Polysomnographer

Position Overview:
The Medical Service-Respiratory Section is seeking up to four (4) full-time Registered Respiratory Therapists who can also serve as Polysomnographers. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic testing related to sleep cycles and stages, educating and treating patients with cardiopulmonary issues, and collaborating with various specialized healthcare departments.
Contract Details:
- Duration: 1 year with option to extend 4 times.
- Shifts: 8-hour shifts from either 8:00 am - 4:30 pm or 8:00 pm - 4:30 am.
- Meal Breaks: Two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute break per shift.
- No overtime or holiday requirements.
Requirements:
- Experience: 2 years in RT with 1 year in critical care and 2 years in Polysomnography.
- Education: Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy and Sleep Program.
- Certification:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC.
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by BRPT, or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) by AASM.
- State Licensure: Respiratory Board of California, Medical Board of California.
- References: 3 professional references.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct therapeutic and diagnostic procedures using medical gases and devices.
- Administer inhaled medications and perform airway management.
- Assist with intubation and utilize all ventilators at VAGLAHS.
- Respond to emergency calls and perform CPR.
- Set up CPAP, APAP, and BIPAP systems.
- Provide education to patients and families.
