Title: RID Scientist III
Location: Dallas, TX Metro Area
Salary: Commensurate w/ Experience + Benefits

Summary:
Experienced RID Scientist III needed to lead formulation development of innovative personal care and OTC products from concept through scale-up. This role involves creating expert-level formulations, conducting experiments and stability testing, and ensuring products meet safety, regulatory, and manufacturing standards. Candidates should have around 8 years in cosmetics or personal care R&D and with strong knowledge of skin care chemistry, in addition to FDA regulations and cGMP compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create expert level formulations of a variety of personal care products, cosmetics, medical devices and OTC from concept to finished product.
  • Prepare complete finished product formulations independently from project charters by understanding the requirements and the complete development process including scale up.
  • Determine and perform design of experiment to evaluate new and/or alternate raw materials through bench trials.
  • Develop new formulas using existing and new technologies in the personal care medical devices and OTC product area to support company-wide growth and future brand strategies.
  • Ensure that formulas meet expected performance, safety and regulatory requirements so that they can be produced in manufacturing.
  • Create innovative formulations in a capable affective manner to answer trends in market and meet project requirements.
  • Develop new formulas using existing and new technologies in the personal care medical devices and OTC product area to support company-wide growth and future brand strategies.
  • Ensure that formulas meet expected performance, safety and regulatory requirements so that they can be produced in manufacturing.
  • Conduct stability testing to ensure formula and/or formula/package robustness.
  • Prepare laboratory batches for studies and evaluations.
  • Develop specifications for new and/or reformulated products, ensuring product quality. Serve as Lab Applications representative on cross-functional teams.
  • Remain up to date and current on trends in the retail market and trends on formulations materials, ingredients, cost, etc.
  • Customer support and interaction on a regular basis and problem solving.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering, or other technical degree +8 years of experience in cosmetics/personal care product formulation.
  • Minimum 10 years of combined experience in topical formulations, R&D, innovation, ingredient interaction chemistry, and supporting scale-up/manufacturing.
  • Extensive knowledge of skin care formulation chemistry and understanding of skin care, OTC drugs, personal care products, and medical devices experience with regulated products preferred.
  • Expertise in developing stable, aesthetically pleasing formulations and adhering to cGMPs, safety guidelines, and GLP documentation standards.
  • Working knowledge of FDA regulations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Independent worker with strong organizational skills and a proactive, results-oriented approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and deliver high-quality formulations.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, readily adapts to change, and possesses strong intellectual curiosity for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to perform under pressure on projects with tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite with a willingness to learn new software applications.
