RSafety Coordinator

Overview 
 
Our client is a manufacturer of machined components and electromechanical assemblies that are sold to a variety of industries such as medical devices, building products, oil & gas, and more. Plant operations include CNC machining, inspection, assembly, material handling.
 
As an individual contributor, you'll report to the Director of HR and play a pivotal role in enhancing the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) culture. You'll be responsible for the creation, upkeep and maintenance of all EHS programs and policies for 2 plants in the St. Louis area. You'll be responsible for the implementation, execution of policies, programs, and related training. You'll develop excellent relationships with all levels of plant staff in order to maintain a safety focused culture.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute company-wide safety programs/procedures, related EHS communications, and educational information
  • Conducts facility safety, health, record keeping, and housekeeping audits at and follow up with corrective actions
  • Prepare, coordinate, and deliver EHS training as required
  • Reviews all newly enacted and proposed OSHA regulations - summarizes potential impacts, and communicates summary with proposed programs to comply with new regulations
  • Be knowledgeable in applicable ANSI, EPA, OSHA, and other applicable standards.
  • Provide guidance and direction on EHS programs at the Employee / Supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach
  • Participate in accident / incident investigation and implement corrective actions, for work injuries and near miss situations.
  • Develop & maintain relationships with medical providers/clinics.
  • Prepare communications for Safety Talks Monitor compliance with safety procedures
  • Ensure safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed
  • Maintain documentation (training records, logs, etc.) associated with permits and regulatory requirements Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as established by the company
  • Serve as Chair or member on the safety committee
  • Monitor industry regulatory issues
  • Participate in professional development and training
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in environmental or safety engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment leading environmental and safety compliance.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload
    • Working knowledge of federal and state regulations including, but not limited to, OSHA and EPA.
    • Experience starting a safety program from scratch is a plus.
