Job Title: School-Based Social Worker (LCSW OR LMSW)
Position Overview:
This is a newly created role open due to grant-based funding.  The role is approved for the 25/26 school year and mirrors the school calendar. 

The School-Based Social Worker plays a critical role in supporting students' emotional, social, and academic well-being. They work closely with students, families, teachers, and school administrators to address barriers to learning and promote a positive school environment. By offering individual counseling, group sessions, and resources, the social worker helps foster students' success both inside and outside of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:
•             Counseling & Support:
o             Provide individual and group counseling to students facing emotional, behavioral, and social challenges.
o             Assist students in developing coping strategies, conflict resolution skills, and emotional regulation techniques.
•             Assessment & Intervention:
o             Assess students' mental health and psychosocial needs through observations, interviews, and formal assessments.
o             Develop individualized intervention plans for students in collaboration with teachers, families, and other school personnel.
•             Crisis Intervention:
o             Respond to and manage crisis situations, such as cases of abuse, neglect, or family trauma.
o             Provide immediate support and referrals to external services when necessary.
•             Collaboration with School Personnel:
o             Work closely with teachers, administrators, and special education staff to support students' academic and behavioral success.
o             Participate in student intervention teams (e.g., IEP meetings, 504 plans) to advocate for students' best interests.
•             Family Engagement:
o             Act as a liaison between the school and students' families to promote strong home-school communication.
o             Help parents and guardians access community resources such as mental health services, housing support, and financial assistance programs.
•             Community Resources & Referrals:
o             Connect students and families with appropriate community resources for mental health, healthcare, housing, and other support services.
o             Collaborate with local organizations, agencies, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive support.
•             School Climate & Program Development:
o             Develop and implement school-wide initiatives to promote mental health awareness, anti-bullying, and positive behavior interventions.
o             Lead workshops for students, staff, and families on topics such as mental health, substance abuse prevention, and social skills development.
Qualifications:
•             Education: Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field required.
•             Licensure: Must hold a valid state license in social work (LCSW, LMSW, or equivalent).
•             Experience: Previous experience in a school setting or working with children and adolescents is strongly preferred.
•             Skills:
o             Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
o             Ability to work with diverse populations and cultural backgrounds.
o             Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
o             Knowledge of community resources and social service systems.
o             Ability to manage crises and handle sensitive situations with discretion.

Working Conditions:
•             Work is primarily conducted within a school setting.
•             The position may require occasional home visits or attendance at community events.
•             Ability to handle high-stress situations and manage multiple priorities.
