Kelly is seeking a Senior Accountant to work with our client, a leading global manufacturing organization, on a direct hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a brand-new position that will handle the accounting responsibilities of a successful local distribution center while reporting to the Midwest-based corporate office.
The Senior Accountant will:
- Compile and analyze inventories, COGS, and manufacturing costs
- Reconcile inventories from sub-ledger to G/L, including preparing proper journal entries
- Review inventory sub-ledgers
- Understand and analyze system linkage
- Understand procedures and controls over inventories and report deficiencies to management
- Communicate with other departments to resolve inventory issues
- Perform statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and write narrative report
- Reconcile and assess inventory reserves
- Conduct studies and submit recommendations for improving the organization's accounting operation
- Travel across the Mexican border to the company's manufacturing plant as often as 1-2 days per week (passport required)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including cost accounting
- Experience in the manufacturing and/or automobile industry strongly preferred
- Experience with Oracle or similar ERP preferred
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (Excel testing may be required)
- Understanding of US GAAP and IFRS
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and hands-on attitude
