Kelly Science & Clinical is excited to share a Senior Lab Technician in Long Beach Area.

General Description of Responsibilities:
Under the guidance provided by the Laboratory Manager, the Senior Lab Technician performs duties in a safe, legal, and ethical manner to support analytical testing for the company and its clients. They maintain associated records, ensuring accurate, timely, and cost-effective service delivery to clients.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Receive, examine, and record inbound samples for testing through a login process.
  • Deliver test samples to the sample staging area.
  • Monitor the availability of supplies needed for testing processes and communicate any needs to the Laboratory Manager.
  • Perform testing of samples and quality control specimens using specified methodology after demonstrating proficiency. Review results against specifications and known expectations. May issue analyses to clients when delegated.
  • Prepare samples and quality control specimens, standardize reagents and solutions, and calibrate equipment required for testing processes.
  • Verify and communicate results obtained, making appropriate entries into records ensuring validity and traceability of information.
  • Maintain documentation, equipment, and work areas in a neat, orderly, and safe condition.
  • Assist in training less experienced employees after demonstrating sufficient proficiency.
  • Carry out responsibilities in adherence to Company policies and procedures, exercising good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy.

Education and Experience Requirements:
High school education or equivalent required. Advantageous to have petroleum testing experience or formal chemistry education. Two years relevant experience required for performing U.S. Customs related testing.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in mathematics.
  • Ability to perform analytical tasks.
  • Protocol, procedure, and safety-oriented.

Value Added Competencies:

  • Organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Experience in handling chemical and petroleum products.
  • High tolerance for job pressure.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse personalities and backgrounds.
  • Preferably holds an AS/BS Degree in chemistry or similar. Experience may supersede education.
  • Pay range DOE: $20-23/hour
