Overview
This long-established manufacturer specializes in high-precision machined components and assemblies used in demanding aerospace and defense applications. The company is recognized for its technical expertise, commitment to quality, and long-term partnerships with major OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
The Senior Quality Manager will lead all aspects of the company's quality assurance and quality control programs, overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems to ensure compliance with rigorous customer and industry standards. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this individual will play a critical role in maintaining certifications, leading audits, and fostering a culture of quality across production and engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, and other applicable standards.
- Lead and oversee all quality assurance and quality control activities across manufacturing operations.
- Supervise and mentor QA/QC staff, promoting team development and managing performance.
- Monitor production and inspection processes to ensure adherence to internal and customer quality standards.
- Analyze production and customer feedback data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
- Plan, manage, and lead internal, customer, and third-party audits, including corrective and preventive action planning.
- Conduct root cause analyses and drive continuous improvement using CAPA, FMEA, SPC, and other methodologies.
- Serve as the primary liaison for all quality-related communications with customers and suppliers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, and procurement teams to embed quality into every process.
- Define, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality metrics.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements impacting quality operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment (aerospace industry preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience with aerospace OEM documentation and engineering standards.
- Hands-on experience with inspection tools and equipment (e.g., CMM, Faro Arm).
- Proficiency with quality standards and tools, including ISO, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Preferred certifications: CQE, CQM, Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and quality management software.
Working Conditions:
- Work performed in both office and manufacturing floor environments.
- Safety glasses and closed-toed shoes required on shop floor; additional PPE typically not needed.
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet production or audit deadlines.
